Boat sensor installation

The photograph shows the Boat Motion Sensor attached to the hull of a single using double sided tape. 'Hard mounting' - i.e. no flexibility in the mounting - is essential to ensure an accurate accelerometer reading. The use of Velcro or electrical tape is therefore not advisable.

  • Point the cable towards the stern of the boat.
  • Align the body of the sensor to be fore/aft.
  • Align the top of the sensor to be horizontal side-to-side (i.e. zero roll angle).

Precise horizontal alignment lengthways (i.e. stern pitch) does not matter, although the sensor should be mounted the correct way up!

In instances where the sensor is swapped between boats, we do supply 3M dual lock. Stick on piece to the boat and another one to the sensor in the opposite direction. Repeatable location and alignment with the impeller is assured.

In boats that already have an impeller and the wiring harness for an NK product, the Peach sensor can be fitted in the vicinity and share the same impeller without any adverse affect to either system.
